Zagato Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spyder #2211109Chassis number 2211109 is a short wheelbase Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 with one-off bodywork by Zagato. It was probably first owned by Tazio Nuvolari, who entered it in the 1933 Mille Miglia with Raymond Sommer, and won. According to 8C expert Simon Moore, this Zagato is only one of its type. In his massive three volume work on the Alfa 2.3, Moore tracks the fascinating history of this car, which spent 50 years of its life in the United States, having been brought to that country in 1936 by Nuvolari himself. The new owner was Barron Collier, Jr. one of the founding members of the Automobile Racing Club of America. Today it is in a private collection. |
