Interesting ruling about the originality of cars

Post by robgeelen »

Interesting ruling about the originality of cars and what a dealer's description should entail, and at the same time which obligations can be expected from the buyers (their own responsilility for research)

"Original" means as it first was, and "continuous history" is something for personal consideration of worth, but "Mrs Brewer has been left with a £300,000 legal bill" means history and truth can take the hindmost.

I would not wish to enter into rights and wrongs here, but I did think the comment "So if I had an original antique frame and put a copy of the Mona Lisa in it, I could sell it as an original?" was amusing to someone more interested in coachwork than whether the original air is in the tyres.

Must be Friday,

Clive.
