Toyota 800 sport
The desirable supersports-car in 2000 GT which celebrated engine show in 1965 première on 12-th Tokyo was not the first sports-car in the history of Toyota. This place is due to the small sport 800 which was shown in 1962 for the first time as a prototype. In the year according to the image of the 2-door sedan one showed the prototype of a sports-car basing on the Publica. This was provided with a removable Targadach à la Porsche, only that the Zuffenhausener introduced this bodywork form only in 1965. The Publica sports-cars received the type name of sport 800 which referred to the sporty form and to the cylinder contents of the two-cylinder engine. This had a cubic capacity of 790 cubic centimetres, was air-cooled and worked after the boxer's principle. Here instead of a carburetor like in the sedan a double carburetor provided for the mixture processing and let the achievement on 45 HP rise. In the group with the shed chassis as well as the better aerodynamics 145 kilometers per hour of point were possible.

Of the sport 800 whose design of Japanese aircraft designer Tatsuo Hasegawa comes is a graziles vehicle. With a height of 116 centimeters, a length of 3.58 meters and a width of 147 centimeters he brings only 580 kilograms on the scales.

Der begehrenswerte Supersportwagen 2000 GT, der auf der 12. Tokyo Motorshow 1965 Premiere feierte, war nicht der erste Sportwagen in der Geschichte von Toyota. Dieser Platz gebührt dem kleinen Sports 800, der 1962 erstmals als Prototyp gezeigt wurde. Im Jahr nach der Vorstellung der zweitürigen Limousine zeigte man den Prototyp eines auf dem Publica basierenden Sportwagens. Dieser war mit einem abnehmbaren Targadach à la Porsche versehen, nur dass die Zuffenhausener diese Karosserieform erst 1965 vorstellten. Der Publica Sportwagen erhielt die Typenbezeichnung Sports 800, die sich auf die sportliche Form und auf den Zylinderinhalt des Zweizylindermotors bezog. Dieser hatte einen Hubraum von 790 ccm, war luftgekühlt und arbeitete nach dem Boxer-Prinzip. Statt eines Vergasers wie in der Limousine sorgte hier ein Doppelvergaser für die Gemischaufbereitung und ließ die Leistung auf 45 PS ansteigen. Im Verbund mit dem abgespeckten Chassis sowie der besseren Aerodynamik waren 145 Stundenkilometer Spitze möglich.

Der Sports 800, dessen Design vom japanischen Flugzeugkonstrukteur Tatsuo Hasegawa stammt, ist ein graziles Fahrzeug. Bei einer Höhe von 116 Zentimetern, einer Länge von 3,58 Metern und einer Breite von 147 Zentimetern bringt er lediglich 580 Kilogramm auf die Waage.
