Rather conservative for a Saoutchik... Neat car.

Did Saoutchik really body this car? Hmm, not sure. It is a Derby chassis, 3 1/2 or 4 1/4 litre, second body, forties I assume, very unlike Saoutchik.....

It has some similarities with the RR by Inskip, but in these last photos the Saoutchik badge is clearly visible.

B49EJ was one of only two Derby Bentley's coachbuild by Saoutchik before the war (the other being the Mark V), and this car was shown on the 1935 Paris Salon. It was delivered to Gaby Morlay, a French screen star, who often showed cars for their owners at Concours d'Elegance, but in this case she presented her own car. The car still exists in the USA, though I have not seen a recent picture of it.

Nice! looks very restrained for Saoutchik which improves it to my eyes. Wish how it looks today

Here are two more of #B49EJ when owned by French actress Gaby Morlay. She traded the car in for a new Rolls-Royce Wraith de Villars fixed head coupe #WXA12 in 1938. See that section.

Again #B49EJ.
The first pic shows the car at the 1935 Paris Salon, the second pic with Gaby Morlay in London 1936.

#B14AW was ordered in 1939 by Franco Brittanic Automobiles to be shipped to the Carrosserie Binder. Customer was Princess Kemal El Din who cancelled as she left France when the war broke out. The chassis was then sold to M. Barrelon of the Forge de la Boissière. Binder did not complete the body and it is accepted that Saoutchik took over in 1944. It is not known how much Binder design was retained.
