I am hoping that the members of this forum may be able to assist me about a Binder Rolls-Royce Phantom III fixed head cabriolet (body number 5925) that was displayed on the Binder stand at the 1937 Paris Saloon at the Grand Palais between 7 and 17 October. The car, with chassis number 3CP114, was sold to Nicholas Zographos (1883 - 1953) of 11 rue de Gustave Dore, Paris XVII. It had a rear-moounted spare wheel and according to RR records was still owned by Zographos, although in Switzerland, in 1951. Any further information - or even better a photo - would be appreciated.

Can't help you with a foto Steve, but here's a copy of the chassiscard for those interested.
Mr. Zographos was quite a caracter, it seems, and very well known at the Baccarat tables in the Casino of Deauville.
This article confirms his retirement to Switzerland: http://www.easygamingmoney.poker.tj/oh- ... itz-7.html
and some more on him: http://www.jackpot.co.uk/online-casino- ... icate.html

Nicky Zographos was the mainstay of the Greek Syndicate, which was active in gambling in all the majopr casinos in Europe. He owned the Cannes Casino for a while. He lived in Paris and the South of France, and retired to Switzerland for the duration of the war. He was awarded a Legion d'Honneur, and died the richest gambler of all times.

Thanks for the additional information on Zographos, gentlemen. He was certainly a character, and owned (at least) RR Twenty GXL33 (Binder saloon), 20/25 GBJ8 (Binider sedanca), Silver Wraith WYA87 (H J Mulliner saloon) and Bentley Mk VI B166AK. But, back to my search for his Phantom III!

A further thought - does anyone have access to the French motoring magazine "La Carrosserie" for October or November 1937? The Bibliotheque Nationale has not scanned it yet through their Gallica programme. The English magazine Automobile Engineer for 1938 had an article about the Paris Salon for that year (including the wonderful Franay sedanca de ville on the PIII chassis, and the Wraiths), but nothing I have seen on the 1937 Salon.
