The word 'industrial' is very often debatable... Put his designs into development for series production and in the end there will be not much left of the initial concepts.
Drawing and building extreme and extravagant cars is relatively easy compared to designing any car for multiple kinds of usage and series production.
IMO he is more of an artist than a designer.

Concerning his aerodynamic skills: It's useless to form a car like a pebble when it's front end is drawn in the air by uplift forces. And that exactly what many of his design concepts did.
Furthermore his shapes are not appropriate for mass production. Constant wall thickness, draft angles, reasonable selectional planes and ideal tool-filling are hardly to achieve.

Exactly. His designs may LOOK very aerodynamic, but in real life they often are not. His designs are like airplanes , which are not designed to stay on the road. Cars are and therefore many other things must be taken into account. Ground effect for instance. He only seems to focus on low drag and some straight line stability, but for a car that actually needs to be used, there's much more to it. It would be interesting to see how Colani would design a Formula 1 or Le Mans car with the intention to win races.

One of Colani's more down to earth creations.
It's an AC 428 that he bought and and built-up as a spider in 1986.
I'd never heard of it, until recently.
Better then the original Frua design? I don't know.
Its nice anyway.

This car was BMW 700 based...probably the pick of the bunch, aesthetically, when it comes to Colani's creations. It's nicely balanced and well resolved...if a bit surprised from front on!
