As far as I know, up to this day, it has never been verified as a Vignale body. It was known as an "Autodromo" for many years and some other sources say the body was made by Ferrari itself.

I heard the same about it, but this year the 1000miglia committee accepted as a Vignale. In my opinion the debate is still open also here...

That's 006 I, built in 1948 as a racing spider, rebodied by Vignale in 1951 for Antonio Faselli/Rome

This is 166 #0038M, built first as a Touring Barchetta, rebuilt by Vignale in 1951 for Froilan Gonzales. This design was also used for the 212.

This photo has been taken in front of the Vignale plant in Via Cigliano, Turin.
The first man on the right is Alfredo Vignale, with a cigarette between the fingers as usual, the second is the firm accountant, the third is Josè Froilàn Gonzàles.

Some sources say that the #072E Vignale export spider 1951 was previously the 1948 166 racing car by Campana. Anybody can confirm it?

#0072E is a bit a mystery. According to a list of the chassis numbers of the 166, there has been two customers for #0072E.
With date of first registration 17.01.1951 it was delivered to Alberico Cacciari as a Campana Spider, with the date 18.01.1951 to Auto Pegas, Sao Paolo/Brasil as a Vignale Spider.

with greetings
Tommy

My opinion is that there must be a mistake when setting the date. Campana's car is much earlier and thus there was a second body that went to Brasil. On the other hand does anybody knows whatever happened to it?

According to the sources of Lorenzo Boscarelli and Antoine Prunet #0072E was the last 166MM of the first series and was coachbuilt by Campana in 1951 for Alberico Cacciari who drove his first race with it on 13.07.1951 (Coppa Dolomiti) and later the year on 12.08.1951 in Senigallia.

with greetings
