Phantom II, #1GY, 1930
Seen at RREC Annual Rally 2007
According to Dalton's book on Derby Phantoms, this chassis had a Hooper Sedanca de Ville body.

1GY was a 1930 Sedanca de Ville by Hooper for Harry Flatau, which was turned into hearse. The remains were then as a third body furnished in 1967 with this body, 1768, which was build by VandenPlas for a 4 1/2 litre supercharged Bentley in 1930. The 4 1/2 chassis is however considerably shorter than the Phantom II, so Edmunds of Plymouth lengthened it, devised the rather bizarre sedanca top, and produced the mudguards which were in a style of their own. What can one say? It survived.

Very strange to me. Phantom II of course but it seems a second body perhaps, surely not Vanden Plas, maybe Van den Plas or most likely James Young I'd say...

This is #GMO40, bodynumber 3594 to design 1431/1 ordered by Rolls-Royce in 1937. Originally finished in Yellow / Blue, the price for the body was 595 pounds.

And what became of it, going through the hands of Andy Warhol, and now apparently to be restored.

1930 Phantom II #15GY Vanden Plas Limousine de Ville, bodynumber #1676, design 529, for Edward Harding, a Liverpool shipowner living at "Rathmore", Noctorum, Cheshire, UK. He became well known for his Irish glass collection that was auctioned after his death in 1936, when a big part of the collection turned out to be fake.

77WR. Dalton identified it on the later book "The Derby Phantoms" and described it as Saloon and delivered on June 1929. No owner noted. It appears to be the sole VDP work on PI
