This car was exhibited at the 1936 New York Motor Show on the Brewster stand and was the last 3-1/2 liter chassis.
In January, 1937, the first private owner was Francis (Frank) DuPont, who designed the Interstate Highway system for President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
This Derham customized body was changed from a Tourer to a Drop Head. It is the only Bentley bodied by Derham.

This car started life as a VandenPlas Open Sports Tourer. Derham's contribution was to make roll-up windows in the doors, and some minor changes. As this is 99 % VandenPlas, I would rather attribute it to them.....

VandenPlas would only put their name visible when you open the door. They would also construct for bentley Motors as a standard catalogue item, and only habe Bentley Motors logo in the door.

Oxborrow & Fuller were a successful retailer of quality motor cars with a distisctly sporty note. The lightest bodies on the market were Open Sport Tourers, which offered little comfort in adverse weather. As a result of this the Drop Head Coupé became more popular, but then the customers complained about lack of performance due to the increased weight of the car due to the heavier body. O&F creted a nice market for themselves by developing with VandenPlas the Continental Open Sports tourer, which aimed at combining low weight and improved weather protection.

Thank you Rob, so O&F is definitively not a coachbuilder "per se". You're walking on thin ice when it comes to English coachbuilders =) Some RR have also the same quotation so I better watch out for the former coachbuilder.

Re: KU B 107 OST VDP 1.jpg
Restored like new by P & A Wood and shown on the Retromobile on the Lukas Huni stand, this is a late overdrive chassis: the difference from the outside is one inch smaller wheels. The other pics show the same car years ago when owned by an enthusiastic former owner.

B105AE again, shown, because nowadays the Pebble Beach have to show they can actually run, and on this occasion the owner put the hood up in case it would rain. A rare sight as any regular user of a tourer will sadly inform you it is of little use, certainly without the side curtains. As a result few tourer hoods are ever bothered to be put up, so feast your eyes here... :?

Plenty of the backwards variety around as replacement of the original or because an owner preferred it. Also available on the postwar early Mark VI.
