We all tend quite naturally to associate "Le Sabre" with Buick, but in actuality, the '51 GM concept car, designed and later driven by Harley Earl, had no ties to Buick whatsoever. Buick did not use the name Le Sabre on a car until 1959. And it was used then because the GM concept from 1951 was hugely popular around the world for several years and had name recognition that would help sell Buicks.
