A Saoutchik Bentley 6 1/2 litre Limousine was on the 1928 Amsterdam Motor Show on the stand of the importer, Greve, but it was not sold in the Netherlands, I think. Mr Saoutchik had quite a good relation with Greve who was also the Hispano Suiza importer, and usually came to the show himself, which was good for business. Perhaps he was instrumental in ensuring this car was shown.

That's chassis BX2414, listed in the Bentley Service Records as sold through Greve but no body details given. First owner listed as Vasco Bensaude in 1930 address The Hague Netherlands, next to which "address insufficient". No trace after that. So now we have three Saoutchik vintage Bentleys - BX2414, the Speed Six coupe SB2769 and the 8 Litre continental demonstrator saloon YF5013.

Happy to oblige! Thank you for the information. Vasco Bensaude (1896 - 1967) was not dutch, but a member of a trading & shipowning family, he was born in Portugal, but theywere mainly based in the Azores. He has been described as the economic octopus of the Island so he may have left taking the car with him? Still out there?

I've found a reference to Vasco Bensaudi [sic] entering a Bentley in a concours in June 1928 - must be BX2414 with its Saoutchik body. Attached from Allgemeen Handelsblad 25 June 1928, I don't read Dutch so I can't make out much more than this.

Third prize in class of closed cars over 8000 guilders after a local car and a Hispano from the Hague, so he wont have been too happy about that..
