Hi, Michiel,

You know the Goliath-GP700 as 2dr-sedan, -convertible-2dr-sedan, -convet.-2dr and -stationwagon-3dr/1950>55 all together 36.270x built.
To promote the new fuel-injection they create the GP-700 Sport-Coupe. In 1951 Johannes Rudy/GER-DELmenhorst builts 2 Coupes for Borgward/Goliath with aluminium-body - first shown with the Berlin-IAA/1951. Rometsch builts 25 more coupes in 1952/53. Price new in 1953: 9.700;--DM (> 57.000;--€/2009). The usual Goliath-GP700 are about 6.500;--DM/1953. One Rudy and also one Rometsch are still 'alive', the Rudy (No. 480001) in Vienna/Austria and the Rometsch (480010) in Berlin/GERmany.
The optic-differences of both cars/types: The back wheel-arch of the Rometsch is more rounder as with the Rudy and, the underline of the Rudy-windshield is more arcuated (= means in German: Unterkante Windschutzscheibe beim beim rometsch gerader als beim Rudy-Coupe).
Both cars of the pics here are Rometsch-versions, the Rudys in my books are different ...,

... with greetings, FrankWo.

The following link suggests that 5 Rudi Goliaths were made, before build quality concerns were raised, then a further 25 made by Rometsch .

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=406656

Also the front grilles are different, as are the bumpers.
The VW forum link, seems to suggest that the plain grille is the 1950 Rudi car, therefore leaving the grille with the red section being the Rometsch !
The Inset rubber to the bumper on the Rudi car and the plain bumper on the Rometsch !

Can you confirm this ?

All sources I know tell about 2 prototypes made by Rudy (with y) with aluminium bodies and 25 "series" cars by Rometsch with sheet metal bodies.
The car which was shown first to the public in Bremen was a Rudy car.

See here: viewtopic.php?f=81&t=10826

with greetings
Tommy
