Ihle brothers made usually open, sporting bodies on small cars. Here are two creations of them :

BMW ? No, Ford Eifel !

What we know as the BMW double radiator grille, was originally the design of Ihle. When Ihle built successfully the Ihle-BMW-Dixi with this grille, BMW adopted this grille design for all following cars.
The pic shows a Ihle-BMW Typ 600, 1930

No, Ihle did not introduce the double-grille! The first BMW to use the now famous grille was the 1932 BMW 303; the grille design was the work of Peter Schimanowski who worked in the BMW design department. The Ihle Sports was first shown at the BMW Autoshow in February 1933; most surviving Ihle Sports are described with an earlier date because they are re-bodied earlier cars, which has lead to the misunderstanding.
