This gorgeous DB S roadster was for a long time attributed to Letourneur & Marchand. But in fact, this was the work of the Delage bodyshop.
Renée Friderich, daughter of ernest Friderich (himself a famous Bugatti pilot and owner of the Bugatti garage in Nice on the riviera), had a fatal accident in this car at the 1932 Paris - St Raphael rallye (reserved to women). Rebuilt by the factory, the D8 S was used from time to time by the pilot Robert Benoist, before being sold in England in 1935. 25 years later, André Surmain, the chef and owner of the renowned "Lutèce" restaurant in New York, noticed the car in an ad, bought it and brought it in America, where it was rebuilt. The headlights, first fixed on the front wings, were then positioned between the wings and the radiator, and it looked even better !
I don't know the whereabouts of this car.
