This prototype, code named DP 114/2, could have been the Aston Martin DB 4 !
It was built by Aston Martinh works in order to explore the future DB model. It was designed by Frank Feeley, and designed as a roomier DB 2/4. The front looks remarkably similar to the DB Mk3, but the rear is totally different. Originally, it was painted light blue and white, which earned it the nickname "Wall's" (like the british ice-cream brand, using these colours !), and it was used for a long time by David Brown's wife.
Aston Martin decided not to go further and went to Italy to consult Touring, who styled the DB 4
After the car was sold, incredebily, it was used at a time in historic racing (see the photograph !), but fortunately, it returned to its original condition.

Why fortunately??
I prefer a good car with a good racing "life" then a car with a boring "life" from an elegance concours to another...

From the DP series, the racing prototypes DP212, DP214, DP215.
Built on DB4 GT chassis.
DP 212 is the original one (only one built) with plate "212 DP".
Two DP 214 were built on DB4 GT chassis sn0194/R and sn0195/R, but today only the former is still existent (plate "5 NBP"), but there are two replicas (one with plate "5 BVY").
DP 215 (one-off) is still alive with plate "XMO 88".

When raced it got rather trashed. I vividly remember it with damage at Zandvoort historic races. Perhaps the line should be that it transferred to a more careful owner..

I wrote "fortunately", because this car was not meant to be a race car, but a design study for a production car. So, it seems to me that it was not such a good idea to race this particular, unique car. By the way, that is what Aston Martin thought, because they bought back the car in 1989, and the Works Service restored it. I think it is still in the Aston Martin collection. It was presented for the first time at the Silverstone Coys festival in 1995, where I took the first photograph.

From Coppa Intereuropa 2011, I think this is the second DP214 replica.
