James Young 1950 Silver Wraith Touring Saloon chassis WHD 29 supplied to George Formby,
the ukelele and banjo playing siner, who once was the best paid artist in the United Kingdom, and who was a very good Rolls-Royce and Bentley customer for many years.

Immediate post war production by English coachbuilders was slow, and cars were hard to come by as the war economy in effect continued until the early fifties. Things were easier if export was involved as England was was very dependant on foreign currency. Still, it was no mean feat to have a car produced and delivered as early as 1947. Here is Mrs Eric Loder showing her car on an early post war concours. Note the lack of chrome on WTA53, design WR17/A, body 1906. Possibly due to the French distributor the car was appearing in the press as having a Franay body, possibly to satisfy chauvinistic interests. The car is still in France.

WTA79 is a rare two door saloon on the Silver Wraith chassis (more common on the Bentley MarkVI chassis), this being the third and last of design WR16, supplied to a Mr. Bentley (!). Now for sale in Wales.
