Coune Volvo 122S Amazon Convertible Gallery: http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?opt ... emId=25345

Jacques Coune introduced his Amazon Cabriolet at the Autosalon, Brussels in January 1963. The Amazon was an ideal basis for a cabriolet conversion, it was a sporty car with two carburettors and was solidly built. Volvo supplied Coune with 4 new 122S vehicles and although they were aware of Coune?s plans to build the cabriolets, they didn't object or interfere with the projects at all.

Only four cabriolets were produced during 1963/1964 and today only two of these original cabriolets survived. Jacques had big plans for the Amazon Cabriolet and he was actually setting himself up for a production line of 5 cars a month, however in the following years he lost many of his specialist Italian workers who one by one returned to their homeland when the Italian economy improved.

Coune Volvo 122S Amazon Roadster Gallery: http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?opt ... emId=25394

Besides the four Volvo Amazon Convertibles, Coune built one Amazon Roadster for a friend. It was a very elegant 2-seater. This car was involved in a crash and written off.

have never seen the roadster from Coune , notice also that the tailights aren't slanted on that one. These Amazons are more extensivibely remade than it appears at first glance. Note the door curvature and how the sill is widened. So also the upper doorsides are cut down from the A-pillar and vent windowa are narrowed. The entire back is totally revamped too.

On the other hand here many amazon has died the horrible death of "home-converions" the Amazon around here mainly turned in a special style we call "Kiruna-cab" thats chop top job and shut-welded doors. no les sno more. And there is a refined version "Villhellmina-cab" tahts when you bother to grade down and smooth the cuts and welding to avoid injuries...

Hi, is there some one inhere, who knows about GOLDE, and their Cabriocoach sunroofs?
I only took a chance, and postet here, as I saw the Coune 122 S convertible.
I own a 122 S, with such a full lenght fabric sunroof, thats the reason, for my question.

Hi Mårten, thanks for your reply, yes these cars are not easy, here in Denmark we have 3 Amazon/130 series with this roof, and one PV544, plus atleast one 123GT, with a GOLDE steel, sliding lid roof ( a friend use to own it)
I know they are not real Coachbuilt, or anything like that, but its a nice roof, and it must have been very expensive, as its a part of the roof construction, all welded in, with strengtening bars, both to the sides & front, the sliding frame, with all the mecanism inside is cut from one piece of wood, and has a signature & date by the guy who built it, so atleast its a proper & handmade roof, and very nice in the summer.
