Bentley S-series and Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud by Pressed Steel: this car design was so appealing to its typical prospective owners, that it effectively killed off many of the coachbuilders, that in the days before would have supplied a fully coachbuilt body. A sign of the times too, as this offering was of course less expensive than a fully bespoke body. As acoachbuilder, Freestone & Webb closed its doors in 1958, Hooper in 1959, H.J.Mulliner merged with Park Ward, which already had been owned by Rolls-Royce for many years, and James Young soldiered on until the last of the seperate chassis on the standard size chassis disappeared in the late sixties.
