This particular car was delivered new to B. L. Behr of Chicago on August 30, 1929, just two months less a day before the stock market crash that triggered the Great Depression.

The chassis and engine for car was made by this motor Rolls-Royce in the fall of 1928 at their Springfield, Mass. plant. The Newmarket body built by Brewster of N. Y. was mounted to the chassis assembly but not sold until August 2, 1932 to Mrs.Cogdene of Englewood Ernest Cliffs, N.J. who owned this motor car until October 7, 1945

Phantom I Newmarket Convertible Sedan by Brewster (chassis S138FR)...1929
This fine example is chassis number S138FR, a 1929 model that benefits from many of the factory upgrades made through the course of production, including the desirable alloy cylinder head. According to the Schoellkopf Card provided by the Rolls Royce Owner's Club, this car was originally delivered to a Mrs. C. Rosenbloom of New York, and fitted with an Etoile body. The car was sold in 1931 and, as was common practice, a new body was fitted to suit the new owner's tastes. In this case, it was refitted with the elegant Brewster Newmarket body it still wears today.
