Thrupp & Maberly New Phantom Tourer

The Cairo Show Car RR 45WR Phantom I was a Thrupp & Maberly disappearing top Tourer in Nile Blue and Ivory bought by the Nawab of Bahawalpur. The Nawab had it re bodied in 1934 by Barker as a Pullman Limousine de ville to receive the C In C British India for awarding the colours to the Bahawalpur regiment and followed bya visit by the Viceroy Lord Linlithgow, an exceptionally tall gent.
Here are a few latest pics of the car in Lahore, Pakistan, in Barker body.
In my opinion the Thrupp and Maberly design was exceptional for its day and its sad that the Nawab chose, in keeping with the trends in 1934 towards closed cars, to get it changed. A disappearing top under a hard cover is quite rare foe 1928-29.
