Lancia Augusta 2+2 Berlinetta Aerodinamica, 1934 Thanks to PG1964 who recognized the model.
At the end of the day... I bought the pictures and I can confirm that there is the Viotti badge on the scuttle. But I can't believe they are 1934: that design would be definitely too modern, at least 3-4 years in advance to other similar cars. There is any evidence of the year? The photos, unfortunately haven't no captions...
If i remember the seller declared the year in the adv... In any case, the production of the Augusta ceased in late 1936. This one-off car is a Revelli's design, you know (i would like to know who was the owner), but many details come from the period: the air intakes, the splitted windscreen, the rear chromes, the double-tone color. The innovative part was the aerodynamic shape.
Actually the eBay aution just says "from the '40s". But a help could come form the license plate, that tell us the car was registred in January 1939. The right-hand-drive suggests it is actually a Lancia, but or the car is re-registred (perhaps in antoher province) or it cannot be an Augusta.
Are you sure it's an Augusta or is it only your guess?
Lancia didn't produce a little car before the Ardea except for the Augusta.... Looking at the dimensions between the man and the car, everything matches. The standard Augusta sedan is bigger than this coupè and the bonnet arrives at my belt. I'm not very tall, you know. Probably the car was re-registered. Another option could be that the new owner re-bodied the car, it was quite usual. Otherwise the new owner could replace the front grill with a "modern" type, like the after-market grills produced by Amerio or by other companies in Turin.
I don't think that only the grille is new. The design looks indeed late '30s and I agree with you that all matches with the Augusta but the year. Same wheel covers appear on 1938 Viotti's Aprilia (but this has not the Aprilia size and proportions). At the end of the day, I think that it is or a re-bodied Augusta or a late chassis remained unsold for a couple of years.
