It's the same car. The pictures with the car still in black are from Pebble ca. 2000.... Sometime after that the current owner bought and restored it and it won PB '09.

Never heard of it before...
According to the designation of the author of the photos this is 1934 Horch 850 by Voll & Rührbeck.
One more fake?

This HORCH looks more like a work by SPOHN in Ravensburg. He is very similar to some MAYBACH SW 38 ROADSTERS from after 1938.
There are great parallels to Spohn. I think the car is too strict for a car from Voll & Ruhrbeck.

But there is a picture from the war, which shows such a HORCH.

I never knew exactly what it was and recently found pictures of the same car and have sent several emails out of interest. Unfortunately, I never got an answer.

Dear EbonyAndIvory,
Very interesting, many thanks!!!
Regarding this photo:

Are there any other photos of this car? And - sorry for this question - are you sure that this is Horch, not Maybach?

Hello Igor, I only know this one picture. I have a passion for old MAYBACH vehicles and know a lot about them. I thought for a very long time it would be a MAYBACH SW 38 or SW 42 with a body of Spohn. However, I was always a bit unsure because I was irritated by details. The side grilles are deeper than normal. The grille does not quite fit and the front fenders are also not right. I thought it would be a remodeling in the war.
Recently I found the pictures of the blue HORCH and these pictures match the old picture. The other windscreen also matches.

The spoke rims also fit. These were only at the beginning and very rare in the MAYBACH SW series.

I can not say who the body manufacturer really is, as I never got an answer. It is very similar to Spohn.

Best regards
David

David, hallo.
Yes, one more enigma. I looked through the books on Maybach I have, and also didn't find such Karosserie ....

It seems to me that the license plate is not German. Maybe, this is not German automobile brand???

But it is a HORCH. Please compare the pictures. Only the manufacturer of the body is unknown.
