The czech marque "Aero-Minor" was the successor of Jawa. Aero built in the years 1946/47 the old type 30 and a few prototypes of new models.

The caravan lacks the panache of the Aero in front of it, but as this obviously is a coachbuilders photograph, did Sodomka actually also build the caravan, or is it shown to show the match between them, colourwise..?

most likely, Sodomka built trailers and caravans as well, starting in the twenties with rather modern construction and appearance. The caravan manufacturing was something they (as Karosa International) relied on well into the seventies.

Aero 50 1939

Having searched for many Sodomka Aero pictures the last few days, there's one thing that really amazes me.
I've never seen such good looking folding soft tops on any classic car. Some tops look like they are 'Faux Cabriolet' or even sheet metal! Seamless, without any wrinkles and even shiny!

Indeed, the shape of the convertible roofs is excellent! I guess this was real craftmanship, for which Eastern and South Eastern Europeans are famous for even nowadays! Regarding the shiny finish: In the 1930s it was "dernier cri" to have softtops made of patent (artificial) leather, that means a durable cloth, covered with flexible plastic on the base of rosin. Torn over the cage, it looked almost like painted and polished sheet metal. Unfortunately those early and flexible plastics resp. coverages were not very durable, UV (sun) light, humidity and folding the tops ruined the material very quick, and therefore hardly any of those tops survived...
