The Elisabeth was based on the PV445 commercial chassi. And the story involves many companies. Originally Michelotti made the first sketches with the intention of the body to be manfactured by Ghia-Aigle. But eventually the final drawing ended up at Vignale, but they handed the manufacturing over to Allemano whick completed the car in 1953. By then the original customer, a swiss businessman withdrew and the car went to Sweden to be sold to a private customer in april 1954, since then the car is regarded as lost.

All true, but many still assign this Elisabeth I to Vignale. I believe to see a Vignale badge on the side. Or is it a Volvo emblem?
Anyway, this car is in the Vignale gallery at the website: http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?opt ... temId=2380
Elisabeth II is in the gallery as well.
Elisabeth I was crashed and considered to be lost...

Nope, the Elisabeth went out with a bang, literally. E-2 is under restoration but little known of its progress. It was found at a scrapyard in early 80:ies up north and saved. "restoration" has reputedly going on since...

The cars in the link, they are all mock-ups, with a possible exception of the 454.

Here are some other Volvos that never was.
