The Le Mans Classic is a biennial vintage sports car event held on the grounds of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, France. It began in 2002 and runs every two years in July on the full 13.65 km circuit also used for the annual modern day 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Le Mans Classic event of 2002 was the first time since 1923 that the full 24-hour Circuit, part of which is public road the rest of the year, was closed specifically for an event other than the annual running of the 24 heures du Mans with contemporary sportcars and prototypes, thus allowing car owners and gentleman drivers to experience what it must have been to race these cars on this circuit. The event consists of a series of races for cars which have competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans or for similar cars of the same model. Only cars from prior to 1979 are allowed.

It can not be done, they said: take one of the most beautiful automotive designs ever (Aston Martin DB4 / DB5 by Carrozzeria Touring, 1958 / 1963) and bring to market in (limited) series production a contemporary version with modern technologies applied. Well, David Brown (not related to Aston Martin's David Brown, hence "DB") did it: enter the Speedback GT.
Combining classic design with state-of-art engineering and handcraftsmanship, the Speedback is a coachbuilt contemporary GT with the heart and soul of a classic. It is built on a Jaguar XK alloy platform, using the drivetrain of the 5.0-litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine generating 510 bhp with a six-speed automatic transmission. Fabulous.
They don't come cheap, what do you expect. But you know what they say: those who ask for the price can't afford it :-)
The Goodwood Revival: a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit since 1998 for the types of road racing cars and motorcycle that would have competed during the circuit's original period—1948–1966. Most people dress in period clothes. It is one of the world's most popular motor race meetings and the only UK event which recreates the golden era of motor sport from the 1950s and 1960s. A must!
The magnificent Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event is held every last weekend in May in Cernobbio on the beautiful Lago di Como in Italy. Probably the finest setting in the world to view a magnificent collection of historic and modern concept cars.
While the Saturday is reserved as a closed event at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este for participants, the media and invited guests, the Concours of Historic Cars is open to the public on Sunday in the park of the Villa Erba located close to the hotel.

Aston Martin presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show the spectacular Aston Martin Bertone Jet 2+2. This one-off build was commissioned by a collector named Barry Weir. The original Aston Martin DB4 gts jet 2+3 was launched back in 1968; only 20 were built. The gen 2 was based on the modern Aston Martin Rapide. Though the gen 2 was received so well that Aston Martin considered making a small production run, only one of the gen 2 was built.
It is now for sale.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
