Although we all know that more than one road leads to Rome, arguably the most famous of them is the Via Flaminia, running from Rimini to Rome, which the Lancia Flaminia was named after. And what a dream of a road it is, meandering through beautiful scenic countryside, while also proving that Lancia's marketing department was indeed capable of coming up with great ideas from time to time. In any case, among the circle of classic car lovers, Lancia’s Flaminia, as well as the Aurelia, are now the brand’s most highly prized for their monumental beauty and value. Initially, the greatest appreciation was for the design by Touring, the coachbuilder company, but in recent years this was overtaken in popularity by the coupe from Pininfarina. Thus, an incomparably beautiful and beautifully designed car that also drives exceptionally well. Such performance and great looks can only ever be found in the cars from the two other major GT producers in Italy, but then of course for many times the purchase price. Moreover, I would even argue that the Lancia's construction quality is superior, and, additionally, aluminum was already partly used and the steel was of a superior quality than that which would cause Lancia problems in the late 1980s. Nevertheless, the test of time can be daunting for a Flaminia that is more than 50 years old, hence the steel undercarriage can be a critical point, and the beautiful, yet rather complicated mechanics, can occasionally prove equally daunting. Cosmetically, the healthy ones also often do not meet the beauty ideals of today. However, this Flaminia Coupe, designed and built by Pininfarina, offers what one should expect from a valuable and serious classic car: a non-restored, unwelded body and bottom, combined with stunning new paintwork and a beautiful interior. The car's originality has been largely preserved, while visually this is no old fashioned-looking car. Understated and respectful. A sound investment that one will also derive great enjoyment from. The license plate pictured on the car is not the original.
This Flaminia comes with an optional premium all-leather interior. The car also features a rather ugly radio that we will replace or remove upon request.
This Flaminia’s body is exceptionally tight and totally free of corrosion. Perfect fits and symmetrical lines all around. A few years ago the car was professionally repainted for cosmetic reasons, in its original color, Argento Auteuil Metallizzato. No specks or imperfections to be found. The chassis is completely original and rust-free. The chrome is flawless, retaining a fine deep shine. All original trim, frames and brand logos properly present. A beautiful whole.
The interior was also professionally refurbished with a great eye for detail and originality. The shape, structure and stitching are entirely original. The leather on the front and rear seats and door panels is new, as is the floor carpeting, which is beautifully highlighted with beige piping. The top of the dashboard is flawless, betraying no traces of excessive sunlight. The dials, gauges and switches are all beautiful and perfectly functioning. There is nothing unharmonious in this interior.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT, TRUNK SPACE, WHEELS & TIRES
The engine compartment is beautiful, original, dry and clean, housing the original V6 engine and accompanying highly maintained mechanics. The engine runs smoothly and evenly. No excessive smoke. Good oil pressure. No strange mechanical noises. The wiring is original. This Flaminia has ‘aged beautifully’ and was clearly rarely driven. The trunk is also pristine and original: no traces of moisture or corrosion. The trunk contains the spare tire and car tools. Excellent Michelin tires.
This Flaminia Pininfarina Coupe was acquired from the private collection of a restaurateur who, owing to advancing old age, is downsizing his collection. Only three Italian owners, and only 100,500km on the odometer. At the time this car carried a high new purchase price, which is usually good for cars in the long term. Never mistreated or abandoned, and only cosmetically or technically refurbished when elements became less beautiful or functional due to time. Crucially, this Flaminia was never disassembled, hence the plating and details still look remarkably original. This Flaminia therefore effortlessly transports you back in time.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
