Zagato launched the Perana Z-One (Zee-One) at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The Perana Z-One signals the first collaboration of the Milanese Coachbuilders with a South African Vehicle Manufacturer: Perana Performance Group.
The Perana features an 'old school' tubular and box section chassis and uses a 6.2 litre V8 engine to drive the rear wheels.
The Perana Z-One was expected to be available for sale to discerning European buyers by July 2009. Production will be limited to 999 cars per year within Europe to assure exclusivity. It is expected to be launched at the introductory price of under 50.000 Euros, before taxes.
Zagato built the first prototype, but the cars were manufactured in the Hi-Tech plant of Hi-Tech Automotive & Superformance in South Africa.
By 2012 Superformance partnered with AC Cars and the Perana was renamed the AC 378 GT Zagato. Reportedly there are about ten pre-production models completed.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
