2014 marked 95 years of continuous activity for the design house Zagato over three generations of Zagato family leadership. Aston Martin celebrated its 100th birthday a year earlier. As a massive present, Zagato revealed two special editions of the DBS Coupe and DB9 Volante. After that Zagato released a third Aston: the Virage Shooting Brake, revealed at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours d'Elegance.
This one-of-a-kind car was commissioned by a European client who desired an atelier-level, collectible modern car. This project signifies a bespoke Zagato design for an elite Aston Martin model with cutting-edge styling cues while it pays homage to Zagato?s artistic, Italian coach building tradition on the canvas of a shooting brake body shape.
The fundamental design language seems to be derived from the 2013 Aston Martin DBS Coupe Zagato Centennial, and retains the forward-raked front and sleek lines.
As the name suggests, it's based on the Virage model (which itself sat on the DB9/DBS platform), with the familiar 6.0-litre V12.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
