Zagato Aston Martin DB7 AR1 2003
Zagato Aston Martin DB7 AR1 2003
10.0/10 rating 1 vote

Description

The DB American Roadster 1 (DB AR1) is based on the DB7 Vantage Volante (convertible) and boasts revised bodystyle with coachwork by Zagato and incorporates a number of dynamic elements, which have been finely engineered to offer a new dimension to the Aston Martin driving experience.

Available only as a two-seater, the DB AR1 is not a convertible Zagato version of the Coupe (launched in the summer of 2002) but an addition to Aston Martin's exclusive product range.

Unlike the regular Aston Martin DB7 Volante the AR1 offers no form of weather protection, making it unsuitable for most countries. Its styling is very similar to the Zagato DB7 Coupe, but unlike the Coupe, it is executed on a regular length chassis.

After being shown to potential customers, the DB AR1 made its official debut at the 2003 Los Angeles Motorshow. Like the Zagato Coupe only 99 examples of the AR1 were available and again the order book was filled rapidly. It was the very last DB7 variant to roll off the production line and remains the only Aston Martin ever designed for a specific region in the world. Not all the DB AR1's were delivered to the US. Eight cars were delivered to customers in mainland Europe, mostly Germany and a single right hand drive production example has remained in the UK for a very fortunate customer.

TESTIMONIALS

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
