One of the first cars designed by Giovanni Michelotti and built by Vignale.
The Lancia Aurelia, introduced in 1950, was a revolutionary car, gaining instant popularity with the first V6 engine produced on a large scale.
Right from the introduction the Lancia Aurelia was made available in the B50-version with a wide choice of bodies from various coachbuilders.
Vignale took this opportunity vigourously, producing small series of various designs.
Production figures are unknown.
Although Pininfarina took about 150 chassis from the 200 made, it is believed that Vignale produced a substantial amount of the remaining 50.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
