Vignale Ferrari 212 Inter Berlinetta #0179EL 1951
8.0/10 rating (5 votes)

Description

First owner: Franco Cornacchia, Milano, Italy. In 1951 the engine was upgraded to 225 specs. The car passed through the hands of two owners before Franco Cornacchia bought her back in 1957 and then she passed on to famous US Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti.

Unfortunately the original engine was removed and sold to Greg Miller, USA, in 1961. A Chaparral (!!) engine was installed by Bernie Russell and an air intake was added to the bonnet. In addition the bumpers were removed and the headlights were removed from behind the grille. In 1976 this car was even owned by a Texas high school student.

Much later the engine from #0083S (195 Inter) was installed, which was eventually replaced by the engine from 250 GT Lusso #5203. The car received the original engine in 2008.

The car is now in the Netherlands and has been completely restored by Piet Roelofs (mechanics) and Alwin Hietbrink (coachwork).

TESTIMONIALS

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
