The VW Beetle based Rometsch Beeskow Cabriolet was Beeskow's most succesful model. Between 1950 and 1957, 253 were built. The Beeskow's nickname is 'Banana'.
The car was designed by Johannes Beeskow, who, before he became chief engineer/designer at Rometsch, worked as the general manager for Joseph Neuss in Berlin-Halensee, before WWII. In 1933 Erdmann & Rossi took over Neuss and Beeskow continued to work there. After the war he moved to Rometsch and in the mid-'50s he became Karmann's technical manager.
The Rometsch Volkswagens were constructed entirely by hand, using a steel frame with wood pillars and support beams covered by a lightweight aluminum skin.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
