The magnificent Duesenberg J Torpedo Sedan, #J-546-2274 is a one-off made by Rollston for a Mr. Shirley Burden. Subsequent owners were George Arents and Robert Gottlieb and in 1988 it was sold to "The Imperial Palace Collection". The car was initially black with a tan top, but when the car was restored it was repainted silver to resemble another Duesenberg by Rollston; the famous Model SJ "Twenty Grand". In 1999 J-564 was sold to Dean Kruse and put up for auction. For $962,500.- the car moved to the John O'Quinn Collection. After O'Quinn's death the car went up for auction again in 2010 by RM Auctions.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
