Pininfarina designed and built several four door Estate versions for the Sultan of Brunei.
The 456 GT versions (four door sedan, convertible and four door estate) were called 'Venice'.
The Sultan's collection remained secret for many years, but the last few years more and more cars surfaced after being sold.
The 456 GT Venice was built as a series of seven 5-door wagon (estate) cars, or shooting brakes, commissioned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. After Pininfarina designed and built them, the prince only purchased six and the remaining car (silver car) was purchased by a private car collector in the United Kingdom. This car is used as a daily driver in Chelsea and can is spotted in the wild regularly. Each car is rumoured to have cost the Sultan's brother around US$1.5 million.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
