This 1914 FN Landaulette was built by Pennock for the Sultan of Djokjakarta, Hamengko Buwono VII. The Sultan also owned a 1912 Lancia Eta by Schutter & Van Bakel.
The FN's chassis dates from 1914, but the car had been shipped from The Hague to Java in 1918, due to WWI. The Sultan used the car from 1918 to approximately 1938.
A Mr. Bartels from Holland bought the car in 1967 and shipped it back to Holland. Mr. Bartels is no longer among us and his wife sold the car in 2003. The car is currently for sale in Belgium.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
