Zagato Ferrari 550 GTZ Barchetta
After having built a number of 575 GTZ Coupes, based on the Ferrari 575 Maranello, in 2006, Zagato continued with an open version with the same body design, only this time based on the Ferrari 550 Barchetta.
While the standard 550 Barchetta doesn't have a proper folding roof, the Zagato version features an electro-hydraulic folding soft top. Like with the 575 GTZ Coupe, the interior has not been modified.
This car is surrounded by much secrecy. It was not officially introduced to the media and silently delivered to its owner. When images leaked to the online media, Zagato immediately ordered several webmasters to remove the images. Rumours are this might have something to do with Ferrari not authorizing this car. The car had been around for about two years, before appearing in Zagato's book, late 2009. It is not known how many examples were built. Rumours are two were created, one of which is said to be owned by American Rob Walton, who also owns the 599 GTB-based one-off "Golden Ferrari" by Pininfarina.
