Bugatti lifted from the bottom of Lago Maggiore

Bugatti Brescia Lago Maggiore

For about 72 years a Bugatti has been lying on the bottom of Lago Maggiore near Ascona, Switzerland. Last Sunday the Ascona Life Guard Society lifted the wreckage from a depth of 53 metres. It appeared to be a T22 Brescia.

Herman Brouwer and Arnoud and Ard op de Weegh have started the new website www.stolenclassiccarregister.com. The purpose of this site is to increase the chance of finding back a stolen classic car and to eliminate the chance for the thieves to sell the car anywhere in the world. A good initiative, but of course it is all about spreading the word. So here we go!

In the late fourties and early fifties, it was typical for Ferrari to sell their product as a rolling chassis and leave the customer to choose a Carrozzeria to produce the body and interior. This varied the image of the 212 Ferraris, with several cars having distinct bodywork. Most 212s featured elegant Vignale or Touring designs with a few unique examples having bodies by Ghia, Pinin Farina, Scaglietti, Stabilimenti Farina, Fontana and Motto, to mention just a few. Forty-five years after he introduced the original Ford Mustang, launched at a dramatic press conference at the 1964 New York World's Fair, auto industry visionary Lee Iacocca today announced a new version of the famous muscle car – the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang. Only 45 "2009½" Iacocca Silver Edition Mustangs – all painted a special "Iacocca" chosen silver hue – will be built by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters.

To mark the hundredth anniversary of Dutch Queen Juliana’s birth on 30 April 2009, the Royal Dutch Palace "Het Loo" is organising a major exhibition devoted to the queen’s absorbing and eventful life. The star of the show - a three pointed one - is the Mercedes-Benz 380 SEL four door Convertible by Caruna. This blue blooded painted open top limousine of 1985 vintage has recently been restored and is ready to return to Her Majesty's service.
