FOOTNOTES

Chassis number '100 603.303' was exported to the USA as were many cars of this type. This example's history in not known prior to 1969 when Paul Swenson bought it with a broken engine and bodywork in poor condition. Paul Swenson was the owner of PBS Engineering of Garden Grove, California, one of the leading FIAT and Abarth tuning companies in the USA, which developed and produced eight-port cylinder heads and twin-cam 'heads for FIAT and Abarth engines. Paul completely restored this car between 1972 and 1976, and used it privately and as a demonstrator for PBSE. The car was not raced.

During the restoration, Paul incorporated several upgrades, including a 1,050cc Abarth A112 engine with an eight-port head (producing around 90PS), which is still in the car. Other noteworthy upgrades include a Porsche 911 five-speed gearbox (from 1969); all-round disc brakes; Abarth TC Corsa double-wishbone front suspension; FIAT X1/9 rear suspension; frontal radiator; and 5.0x13 alloy wheels.

In 2008, Paul Swenson sold this Abarth Allemano to the current owner, who registered the car in Germany where he has enjoyed it for the past 10 years. A major service has been carried out for the sale, including fitting a speedometer cable (when the current owner bought the car it did not have one – the odometer showed 0 miles). The current odometer reading is 173 miles.

In addition, Scuderia Gemini Corse overhauled the original engine, fitting various replacement parts including an Abarth crankshaft (69mm stroke) and a 1960 cylinder head, the original 1959 head being damaged. The car also comes with its original four-speed gearbox.

Telaio nr. 100 603.303

• Venduta nuova negli Stati Uniti

• Immatricolata in Germania

TESTIMONIALS

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
