In 1996, the V8 Coupé was developed to replace the Virage. The chassis of the Vantage 550 laid the foundation, but the Vantage supercharged engine was not reproduced. The V8 Coupé was revealed for the first time during the Autosalon in Geneva on 5 March 1996. The car minded public was instantly excited about the outlines of the V8 Coupé. These were smoother than on the Virage, but less aggressive than on the Vantage 550.
The V8 Coupé had special 6 spoke wheels and Pirelli P Zero tires, which were developed especially for this car in size 255/50 ZR 18. Also a new type of cylinder head and cylinder block were developed for this Aston Martin, good for 350 HP. They went back to the Torqueflite automatic gearbox of the Virage, because a manual transmission was not considered. Still, the V8 Coupé sprinted in 5.8 seconds to 100 km. The maximum speed was above the 150 miles, 240 km.
The V8 Coupé was placed in the sales program between the DB7 6 cylinder version and the Vantage 550/600 Supercharged version. In the period 1996 to 2000, a total of 101 were manufactured in Newport Pagnell. Only 24 were left hand drive. The Aston Martin Vanquish was the successor of the V8 Coupé.

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
