Today, there are few companies that have been around for as long as Dragone. The Dragone name has been known for the past 40 years for having some of the worlds greatest motorcars, well before auctions became the norm for buying collector cars. In the recent past, Dragone has become a small competitor in the Auction business, but is now going to change its course devoting its wealth of knowledge and experience into future Auctions. They have had successful small auctions in the past few years selling some very significant motorcars, especially for a company that is still fairly new in the auction business competing against others such as Bonhams, RM Sothebys and Gooding and Company. Cars sold in their previous auctions include: 1912 Type 35 Mercer Raceabout for $1.6 million, 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Phaeton for $900,000, 1931 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Beverly for $1.5 Million, 1913 Stutz Bearcat for $600,000, 1950 Jaguar XK120 Alloy roadster for a record $418,000, a Special 1950 Simca-Abarth previously owned by Roger Barlow for $405,000 and many others.

They are now looking to take their auctions to a whole new level.

Coming up, the Greenwich Weekend Auction which will be taking place on Saturday, June 4th 2016 around 6pm at their headquarters in the beautiful coastal town of Westport Connecticut is shaping up to be the most exciting and largest Dragone Auction to date. Cars most notably consigned already for this sale include:

1933 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Supercharged Cabriolet by Castagna

1955 Fiat 8V with coachwork by Zagato

1912 Fiat Tipo 56 Six Cylinder 75 Horsepower Touring Car

1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport

1991 Ferrari 348 by Zagato

Plus:

  • a 1966 Maserati Sebring Series II
  • the only existing 1932 Hudson Coupe Roadster by Murphy
  • a 20 car estate collection at no reserve which includes a 1977 Porsche 3.0 liter 930 Turbo coupe with 35,000 original miles, a 1968 Series 1 ½ Jaguar XKE roadster with 29,000 original miles and a 1939 Packard Twelve with a custom Touring Cabriolet body by Brunn pictured below.

Westport Connecticut is known not only for its Paul Newman heritage, but also for its beautiful and unique New England character that is most beautiful in the spring time and gives a beautiful backdrop for an outstanding auction such as this and is only a 15 minute drive from Greenwich.

Besides having a great auction in a great setting, they are adding new members to their team, including a new director of European sales Mr. Paul V.J. Koot, a new director of auction events Mr. Alex Dragone and a new head of graphic design Mr. Justin Carde

The Greenwich Weekend Auction will be unlike any other Dragone auction and will be a display unlike any other. The auction will be done more in the east coast ‘Salon” style fashion where cars continue to be displayed incredibly throughout the auction with technology playing a large role. But, through all the bright lights, pretty displays and mind capturing video and photographs, it all comes down to the cars. Its about how great the cars are and how fresh the cars are to the market. For this auction on June 4th, literally every car is fresh to the market and none of them have been for sale at public auction before. The large players in the collector car auction business today hold so many auctions a year and have to get so many cars for those auctions, that they are beginning to forego greatness for quantity. Now that there is a shortage a great cars, this is where having great knowledge allows us to bring buyers the cars that they deserve to have.

The Dragone name is growing into a competitive auction house and has yet to show its full potential with such large competitors and new competitors entering the market. The cars that they strive to sell are great cars and this auction is going to set a new high and a new president for Auctions to come. The "Greenwich Weekend Auction" will be a new breed and with our newly broadened staff, revamped image and displays, significant motorcars, and coastal New England setting in Westport being only 15 minutes from Greenwich, the Greenwich weekend Auction on June 4th 2016 will be a spectacle that should not be missed especially if you are looking to acquire fantastic motorcars.
