Drogo Alfa Romeo Aguzzoli Condor MK1
Not much is known about this car other then that it was built on an Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ chassis and is powered by the Giuletta SZ's engine. The car was commissioned by Giovanni and Sergio Aguzzoli, wealthy father and son salami traders of which the car bears it's name.
The amazing body was designed by Franco Reggiani and allegedly built by Piero Drogo.
The first chassis had a rear-mounted 1300 SZ engine with a Citroen DS19 gearbox (!) but it was flawed to such an extent that the chassis was canned and a 1600 twin-plug engine mated to a Hewland transaxle was fitted instead, all wrapped in a unique Piero Drogo body. Apparently the design was so good that it scared the life out of Carlo Chiti, whose Alfa Romeo TZ had only recently started to take to the circuits.
The images show two different body designs; it is unclear which one shall correctly be attributed to Drogo.
I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them.
Congratulations on an excellent website.
